Harlev LiseThe work of Lise Harlev explores personal identity in relation to the public realm. Using the aesthetics of advertising, public information signage and political slogans, Harlev’s text pieces are often too ambiguous or too long to fit easily into any of those categories. Playing around with the way complex issues of identity tend to be simplified into stereotypes by mass media, Harlev characteristically deploys a distinct formal language to convey inconclusive messages, juxtaposing the relationship between content and expression.
