Inauguration of the new space in Kaiserfeldgasse 22, Graz (AUT)

Plans have been realized and we open our new space in the Kaiserfeldgasse 22, 8010 Graz in the very heart and centre of current attention in Graz, Austria.

Opening: 9th November 2009, 7 p.m.

The first exhibition in the new space of para_SITE Gallery in Kaiserfeldgasse 22, 8010 Graz, Austria is titled 9/11/09  by the Polish artist Gregor Rozanski.

gallery information: http://www.para-site.eu | artist personal website: http://rozanski.tk

"9/11/09 is a recombination of disturbing associations and the actualization of two spectres. First, the spectre of Marx, who has foretold that if the integration of the international working class would not be realized, the nations would eat themselves, icited by the right-wing bourgeois nationalism and yet the contemporary division of the world has unpredictably evoked such geopolitics. It's also about the spectre of September 11th, 9/11, the date which started a new global situation between territories and people. 9/11, about 9 a.m. the second aircraft has impacted the WTC.

On European manner 9/11 means the 9th of November: the Crystal Night in 1938, in 1980 Saddam Hussein has declared a war on Iran (first serious conflict between muslim countries), in 1989 the same day the pulling down of the Berlin Wall has started, which was built during the reign of Nikita Khrushthov, who died in 1970 on the 11th of September... so now we have year 2009, evertyhing comes back in a new form."

This is not what I wanted Call for submissions

This is not what I wanted
Call for submissions Call for submissions for a group show in Waterside Project Space in October 2009.

‘This is not what I wanted’ deals with themes of disappointment, boredom, expectation and anticipation, time passing and time-wasting, both in the production and reception of work. The disappointment of the works should not come from their failures (i.e. classically ‘bad’ work is not interesting in this context), and the boredom should be engaged in a sense deeper than that of time-consuming and painstaking craft.

The exhibition will consist mostly of visual artworks, but performative pieces will be considered as well.

Waterside Project Space is a large white cube / warehouse space in Wharf Road, London N1, and hosts a programme of one-night exhibitions and performance events.

Funding is unfortunately not available at this stage and participating artists will need to cover their own production and transport costs.

Please send images of works with some text, proposals for new works, links, bios etc. to Pierre d’Alancaisez at pierre@petitpoi.net.
