In Weiterführung der Anliegen Msgr. Otto Mauers (1907-1973), der durch sein Engagement für zeitgenössische Kunst und junge KünstlerInnen internationale Anerkennung gefunden hat, vergibt der Otto Mauer Fonds im Oktober 2011 zum 31. Mal den Msgr. Otto Mauer Preis für bildende Kunst (Malerei, Grafik, Skulptur, Objekte, Installationen und Neue Medien). Der Preis ist mit € 11.000,- dotiert.

Die diesjährige Jury für den Msgr. Otto Mauer Preis (2011) besteht aus Erwin Bohatsch, Carola Dertnig, Martin Hochleitner, Johanna Schwanberg und Gustav Schörghofer SJ.

Bewerben können sich österreichische StaatsbürgerInnen und italienische StaatsbürgerInnen deutscher Sprache, geboren in der Provinz Bozen, sowie Personen, deren ordentlicher Wohnsitz sich seit mindestens fünf Jahren in Österreich befindet. Die BewerberInnen dürfen am 31. Dezember 2011 das 40. Lebensjahr noch nicht vollendet haben (d.h. Geburtsjahrgang 1972 und jünger); bewerben sich mehrere KünstlerInnen gemeinsam als Gruppe, so darf kein Mitglied dieser Gruppe dieses Alterslimit überschreiten. Jede Bewerbung erfolgt unter Ausschluss des Rechtsweges.

Einzureichen ist eine Dokumentation, die eine Beurteilung des bisherigen künstlerischen Schaffens ermöglicht (Kataloge, Fotos, Texte, Videos; keine Originale), ein Lebenslauf sowie ein Foto des Künstlers / der Künstlerin. Diese Unterlagen sind mit Namen, Adresse, Telefonnummer, Geburtsdatum und der Aufschrift "Msgr. Otto Mauer Preis 2011" zu versehen und vom 28. September bis 30. September 2011 in der Zeit von 10 bis 12 Uhr persönlich abzugeben oder per Post einzusenden, wobei diese Sendungen spätestens am 30. September 2011 eingelangt sein müssen.

Der Otto Mauer Fonds übernimmt keine wie immer geartete Haftung für die eingereichten Unterlagen. Die Jury behält sich vor, gegebenenfalls von Einreichern Originale anzufordern.
Die eingereichten Unterlagen bilden die Grundlage für die Beurteilung durch die Jury. Erscheint kein Werk als preiswürdig, so wird kein Preis verliehen.
Im Interesse der Fortführung der Sammlung Otto Mauer im Erzbischöflichen Diözesanmuseum Wien beabsichtigt der Otto Mauer Fonds eine repräsentative Arbeit des Preisträgers / der Preisträgerin zu erwerben.

Professor Harnoncourt from Graz initiated a contest on the occasion of his 80th anniversary in the year 2011 for the categories Visual Arts and Literature.

Professor Harnoncourt is best known for his long-time support for the art and literature scene in Austria.

On the occassion of his 80th birthday he initiated an art and literature award to deal with the Trinity.

He contacted the Cultural Minorite Centre in Graz and they first told him that this will not be feasible.

However, Prof. Harnoncourt stayed commited and countered that people are bored with church  and Christianity nowadays and therefore he wants to shed new light on the more and more antiquated views of conservative religious beliefs and their ikons.

In my opinion one of the best ideas to modernise outdated point of views at this time.

My first idea towards this topic was from a more art historic point of view let's just say the trinity has a lot of room for interpretation.

The call explicitly states that moralising and theological papers are not eligible.

So be part of this challenge and get the awards that total to 10.000 €.

Applications for participation in the contest for Visual Arts have to be submitted at the latest before 1st of November 2010 at the Cultural Centre of the Minorites (Mariahilferplatz 3, A-8020 Graz). The works have to be handed in at the latest before 1st of March 2011.

what are designboom marts?



in designboom's unique and world famous market exhibitions, visitors are not only able to meet
the young avant-garde designers and become familiar with their work but also buy self-produced
or limited edition pieces directly from the designers. profits through sales can be used towards
partially covering any travel costs.

over the intense days of exhibiting and socializing, the designers have the chance to discuss their work
with other like-minded professionals, customers, manufacturers, distributors, press and museum curators -
verifying their designs and their packaging credentials.

after tokyo, new york, sydney, seoul, melbourne, saint-etienne, valencia, copenhagen, ...
this unique formula now sees its 22nd edition, since our very first mart in new york in 2005.
