YACA - Young Austrian Contemporary Art and counterparts worldwide

YACA gives artists a space and the freedom to develop an interesting work, designed for the exhibition, in order for their work to flourish and to be exposed to a broad public. This should prepare the path and give way to their future in the international art context and start careers that a worth to be followed.

YACA is an exhibition series that invites emerging artists to come to Graz in Austria and develop a project that will be presented in an exhibition at the para_SITE Gallery.

All projects are site-specific and every exhibition has had an installation in it that has been shown here for the first time especially designed for us and corresponding with the space.

The exhibition will be on show for four to five weeks and is accompanied by an interview with the artist in the framework of para_SITE TV produced by Leszek Barszczewski in co-operation with para_SITE Gallery.

At the end of the year the entire interview series will be produced as a DVD.

Along the lines of Duchamp we like to “keep it simple” and “work with what we find” without trying to influence or imposture upon the artists and their works.
